Yikes, new songs!

As I've been transitioning, I've continued making music. However, I haven't shared it with any, and most of the songs haven't gotten finished.

It's been hard. I'm having to learn to sing all over again with a new voice, trying to develop a solid high voice with out it sounding like a guy singing falsetto.

I just put two new songs up on my Virb profile.

If you want to go and check them out, they are stormchaser and stories -- you have to scroll down on the player to see them.

Neither are completely "finished" (stories ends very abruptly), but I thought I would at least put these out there, keep me from hiding from the world.

Melbourne: Upstart Alley IV - Saturday 24th November - with Ikochi (Japan) - cross posted

Come on down to the Northcote Social Club to witness the (not so) straight out punk and rockabilly antics of Ikochi all the way from Tokyo. This three piece outfit-with the gender defying stage singer/guitarist Chikako and death defying bass player Minato Kota-are ready to shake things up. With support from Melbourne's The Minority delivering their unashamedly daring, queer electro rock! More tunes from DJ Linx and DJ Aztek with the fabulous Roxy Bullwinkle playing host!

Upstart Alley is a not for profit crew putting on a range of events that welcome all you misfits who punch and leak outta the boxes and beyond. At Upstart Alley freaks and queers lurk in the dark corners doing dirty beautiful things and all the gender fuckers are dancing on the pavement, making their own meanings and building their own communities.

New to this community

Hello,

I am new to this community, this livejournal username, and the trans community.  I used to be on livejournal back in highschool, but it's been 4 or 5 years since I have used it. I figured it was time for something new!

My identity is kind of complicated and hard to describe because I don't feel like I was born in the wrong body.  Instead, I identify is a genderqueer, bigender, two-sprited boy.  I feel like I have aspects of both genders (leaning more to the male side), living in a female body.

MELBOURNE: looking for a rockabilly/punk singer!! - cross-posted

hey some friends and i are starting a rockabilly influenced punk band... a bit psychobilly...maybe a bit of swing maybe a bit of ska.. ya never really know...

anyways we havent actually jammed yet but at the moment we are listening to a lot of desparado 5, fireballs, the stray cats, mad sin, operation ivy, brian setzer, amazing royal crowns, royal crown revue.... hopefully you get the picture...

apart from being able to pull off the singing part and being into rockabilly/punk - other things we are looking for in a singer include - no big drinkers/drug users, reliable, queer/trans friendly, no racist/sexist/classist folks, someone politically charged, left wing ...

anyways if you are keen to talk more or know someone who could be then let me know.

cheers,

ash

Affordable USB audio for recording

Yes yes I know I could hop on down to Music World and use American Express to buy the latest $10,000 technology, but let's pretend I don't have an amex or that much money to spend.

So.. Anyone have suggestions on an affordable USB input device which will alllow mulitiple track recording? I need more than 4 ins (2 pairs) -- I'm thinking at least 8 1/4" ins with an xlr or two.

It'll Never Sound the Same Again...

It's a half-assed parody, I'll admit, but it made me laugh when it popped in my head. I wrote it in a way that I could sneak it in on unsuspecting people at a kareoke night sometime. That's just my style.

This goes out to all you girls just starting off!

Cut for oddball humor, a little swearing, and a sexual reference...Collapse )
